Frequently asked questions about the new president announcement from Cru.
Tara arrived at the University of Oklahoma eager to make a difference with her life for the sake of the gospel and became involved with Cru. She was able to see many young women respond to the call of Jesus in their lives, disciple them in the foundations of our faith, and see them go out to tell others of the goodness of God. This taste of seeing lives go from the world of darkness to the kingdom of light confirmed Tara’s call to full-time kingdom work.
Tara co-led a team to pioneer the campus ministry at the premier university in Moscow, Russia. After two years in Russia, Tara moved to East Asia for four years, serving in several leadership capacities, including pioneering new strategies of campus ministry to more effectively reach a large scope of people in a closed country who had never had the chance to hear about the love and message of Jesus Christ.
It was in East Asia that Tara met her husband, Colin, and they returned to the U.S. to begin their marriage. Tara served on the Global Leadership and HR team, giving leadership to internal global change initiatives.
The call to pioneer new ground with the love and message of Jesus once again came to Tara when she and her husband led a team to open a campus in the Arab world. Her heart to communicate the gospel to the hearts of people, regardless of cultural realities, endured. Upon returning to the U.S. Tara began working among young adults, seeking to see the unbeliever and the de-churched truly know Jesus.
Tara, Colin, and their three children live in Dallas, Texas. She is able to glean from her years of experience in many different international contexts as she serves on the Global Executive Team as the Chief of Staff to the President.
Tara is deeply motivated to ensure that “everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus” and continues to bring her pioneering spirit of problem-solving comprehensive solutions to complex problems of cultures and audiences. She enjoys time with her family, deep conversations with good friends, and watching soccer - whether it be her children, the Premier League, or the U.S. Women’s National Team.
